Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed she had already removed her helmet and was now eyeing up North with his fiancé Naomi along with Frasier and his wife. Their two Black members.

“And a woman?” came next. “Is that right? Does her man normally ride behind her?”

It was hard to miss Clark sitting confidently behind Monty. Nox shook his head. He swore the bowtie wearing nerd had the biggest balls out of all of them.

His lips twitched. “Like you said, our club’s diverse.”

Her warm chuckle filled his ears and wormed its way into his chest.

Last but not least, he spotted Cabrera with Crew. They’d finally quit hiding their relationship and the task force leader had temporarily moved out of his condo and into Fletch’s house with her because of her Irish Wolfhound.

But that would have to change soon since the task force would be wrapping up their investigation any day now and finishing the work they’d done for the past two years.

He’d miss working on the third floor with the task force and wasn’t sure if he was ready to go back to Shadow Valley PD. Climbing one flight of steps to go to work had spoiled him. So did not having to deal with nuisance calls all day when he worked patrol.

He noticed the only BAMC members missing were Miller—most likely because they couldn’t find a babysitter to watch their litter of kids—and, of course, Fletch and Wilder, since the couple was still undercover with the Demons and would be until the very end.

They currently had the most important roles in the investigation since they were the eyes and ears of the task force. They would contact Crew if they noticed or heard anything going down.

Because it was clear trouble was brewing.

Under no circumstances would the Pittsburgh La Cosa Nostra allow the Demon dickheads to steal their cartel contacts and the flow of dirty drug money.

Nox’s head jerked back when Jamison and Crew were both suddenly standing by his bike.

“Can I help you?” he asked them dryly.

“Yeah,” Crew started, “by explaining what’s going on here.” His gray eyes flicked from Nox to Liyah and back.

“What do you mean?”

“If you haven’t noticed, there’s someone on your bike besides yourself.”

Nox’s expression turned confused. “There is?”

Crew exchanged glances with Jamison.

“Aaliyah,” the BAMC president greeted that someone. “How are you?”

“I’m very well. Thank you for asking, Axel. How are you and Bella?”

“Uh. Truthfully? We’re a little confused.”

Cross joined the group. “Aiden,” Liyah greeted.

Frowning, Cross gave her a nod. “Aaliyah. What are you doing here?”

“She’s coming along on our club run.” Nox thought it should be pretty fucking obvious.

“I didn’t know you two knew each other,” Cross continued with his eyebrows pinned together.

“Well, we do,” Liyah answered him. “We met at the grief group. I took over the one in Shadow Valley.” She looked past Cross to the newcomer. “Hello, Bella.”

“Hey, Liyah,” Jamison’s wife greeted. “I had no idea you were coming along today.”

“I didn’t, either, until he asked me last night.”

All three men exchanged glances.

Here we go…

“Last night?” Crew asked with one eyebrow cocked.

“Yes, that time of darkness that occurs between the time of daylight,” Liyah explained.

Nox wanted to fist bump her for that answer, but he refrained. Barely.

“A lot of stuff can occur in the dark,” Crew said. “But for some reason, my brain is stuck on only one thing.”

The corners of Liyah’s lips slightly tipped up. “Sleeping?”

Jamison snorted and grabbed his wife’s hand. “Let’s go and get this show on the road.”

“Yeah, let’s,” Nox agreed, meeting Crew’s eyes that were full of a mix of curiosity and amusement.

When Cross, Bella and Jamison wandered away, Crew still remained.

Of course. The task force leader was looking for any reason to bust Nox’s balls.

“Do you need assistance with anything else?” Nox prodded.

Crew pursed his lips.

“Cabrera’s getting impatient,” he warned.

Crew glanced over his shoulder at their newest task force member. “She can wait.”

“Do you want to tell her that or should I?”

Crew’s jaw tightened and he scraped his fingers over his short salt-and-pepper hair. “For fuck’s sake,” he grumbled before spinning on his heel and heading back to his bike.

“What was that about?” Liyah asked.

“He’s the king of ball-busting and I think his brain glitched when he saw us together. For Crew, being rendered speechless is the same as being neutered.”

“Ouch.”

“Exactly. I’m sure it was painful for him.”

About halfway through the ride, they stopped at a park that hosted food trucks on Sundays and had plenty of restrooms.

Nox watched Bella introduce Liyah, both with iced chai lattes in hand from one of the trucks, to anyone she hadn’t met yet.

Nox trusted Jamison’s wife to put any of their brothers in their place if they ribbed Liyah too much. Even though Nox had complete confidence in Liyah being able to handle anything thrown her way.

He had watched her the whole time she went around talking to everyone. His heart skipped a beat every time she gave someone a warm smile or she threw her head back in laughter.
