“Last night we were reckless. I should grab a condom.” But I’m not thinking clearly because I make no moves to get up. I slide slowly in and out of her.

“I like feeling all of you.”

My dick twitches at her words. “You could get pregnant, Rylie.”

A sweet smile tugs at her lips. “Would that be so bad?”

Images of her stomach swollen with our baby—another Hale in this lonely world—is enough to have me no longer going slow. I thrust raggedly, desperate to fill her up. It’s probably the worst possible thing that could happen and yet I can’t talk myself out of the idea of wanting it. I come with a groan, my cum jetting deep inside my sister.

Careless.

Reckless.

Fucking stupid.

And yet I’m so damn happy.

I slide out of her. My cum leaks from her cunt. Cum that belongs right where I left it. Using my fingers, I collect what’s running out and drag it back up. I push it pack into her pussy that’s even redder now that I’ve fucked it raw.

“It was Travis,” she breathes. “I fucked Travis. But he broke up with me.”

I glower at her. “What?”

“No one will ever know.” Her smile is wicked.

My heart rate slows once I realize what she means. She’ll lie to protect me. To protect us.

“I love you, heathen.”

She laughs and it’s beautiful. My sister has struggled with her depression her entire life. And during a time when she should be suffering the most, on the heels of our parents’ deaths, she’s thriving. Because of me. Because of what we’ve become. She was right.

Our love, no matter how sick it seems to others, is a cure.

The rain is relentless, but after a shower this morning—where I fucked my sister against the tile wall—we both agreed to visit our parents’ gravesite. I hold the umbrella over her while Rylie squats to place a single yellow rose on each of their headstones. Once she’s satisfied, she stands and hugs my middle. The rain patters against the umbrella and soaks through our jeans as it comes down almost sideways. It’s chilly and ridiculous to be out here, but we are. And neither of us is in a hurry to leave.

“Their deaths brought us together,” she says. “I mean, I was always sick and wishing you were mine. But you? I don’t think you would have come to me had they not died.”

I scowl and hug her to me. I’d like to think I would have eventually come around to her, but deep down I know the truth. I would have done what was expected, marrying Amy and staying with her out of guilt.

“I’m here now,” I murmur, kissing the top of her head. “What do you think Mom and Dad would think about us?”

Rylie sighs. “I don’t think they’d approve.”

“Mom wanted me to find real love, though.”

“True,” she admits. “But she would have beat you in the head with your baseball bat if you’d found that love with her baby girl.”

Dipping down, I kiss the side of her neck. “The universe dealt us a shitty hand, but we figured out a way to win.”

She leans back against my chest. “When you finish college next year, let’s move far away where no one knows us.”

“I like that idea. Definitely not Montana, though.”

She shudders and I’m not sure if it’s from the cold or from the fact we could go to prison there for the rest of our lives for what we’re doing. That’s so fucked up. I’d pulled open my laptop earlier and showed her just how important it is for us to keep our relationship a secret.

“Rylie?” I murmur as I slide my hand up to touch the rings on her necklace. “I’m sorry I’m so selfish.”

Her hand covers mine. “You’re not selfish.”

“I should have let you date and live your life the normal way.”

She turns to face me and tilts her head up, her brows furrowed together angrily. “I was never happy, Hudson. Never. The moment things started crackling between us, I found hope. When we crossed the line with touches and kisses, I was terrified you’d think it was a mistake. Now that we’ve made love, I’m truly happy. I don’t want normal. I want you.”

I kiss her mouth. “You have me. You’ll always have me because I’ll never fucking let you go.”

“I love this part,” Rylie says, talking about the movie.

My hand is under her hoodie and I’m palming her breast. I suck on her neck, no doubt bruising her, and laugh. “I love this part too.”

After visiting our parents’ graves, we changed out of our clothes and decided to watch a movie in the basement since the television is bigger down here. This couch holds fond memories for both of us. Lying beside her, without a care in the world, is the best feeling. Our legs are tangled together. And although we’re both wearing lounge pants, our feet are bare. I like rubbing my big feet against her small, soft ones. Truth is, I could spend the rest of my life just lying here cuddling with her. I’ve never felt so relaxed.
