Miguel’s breath remained steady, caressing Nero’s nape as they lay together, close as straight teenagers sharing a bed without fucking. Though usually, it would be the girl slowing things down, not the boy, and while Nero definitely didn’t identify with femininity, there was no point in denying that he was the one offering his body to Miguel. What did that guy have to lose? It wouldn’t hurt him to get his dick sucked or fuck a nice, snug hole.

Nero could have pushed and overwhelmed Miguel, but he didn’t want to lose this thing they shared. Whatever this was. Were they friends with kissing benefits? Miguel had asked if the kiss meant anything, as if to make sure he could experiment without obligation, but was the morning wood pressing against Nero’s ass a sign of friendship too?

Nero ran his finger over the long blade tattooed on Miguel’s forearm. The ink was quite faded, suggesting it was an older piece which could hardly be called art due to its crude nature. Even the snake wrapped around it was prettier, with patterned scales and sharper edges. If Miguel let Nero, he’d have transformed that old tattoo into something unique, befitting the kind of man who wore it.

He froze when Miguel grunted in his sleep and pushed his face into the back of Nero’s head until his lips brushed the hot nape.

Ah. How amazing that mouth had felt last night. Maybe it was because Nero didn’t really do much kissing with his one night stands, but once his lips locked with Miguel's, it had been as if the abandoned amusement park came to life with bright lights, sweet flavors, and the smell of cotton candy. The carousel they’d made out on appeared to have stirred to life and carried them at top speed until both their heads spun, and Nero’s stomach tightened with apprehension.

This was far from his first rodeo, yet there was something so hungry, so untamed about Miguel’s touch that Nero felt a weird sense of vulnerability in his arms. When Miguel had grabbed his neck, he was torn between fear and arousal, eventually settling on the latter as their frantic rubbing had grown more heated.

But what if for Miguel… this was new?

Could it be that he was a virgin? Or had only slept with women so far? Nero had never seen him with anyone, man or woman, and even Miguel’s past employer made jokes about his supposed lack of interest in sex.

If that was in fact the case, then maybe Miguel’s reluctance was caused by the fear of embarrassing himself with a man he was stuck with for the time being, but Nero knew better than to hurt his pride by asking such a sensitive question. He needed to be more diplomatic to get his answers.

“Nn… what’s the time?” Miguel mumbled instead of good morning.

Fire stormed through Nero, but he kept his cool and glared at the fat watch on his wrist. “Just past six.”

“We need to get going,” Miguel said, but his arms tightened around Nero’s chest until the hold forced air out of his lungs. Could they… do something else first? He wanted to taste Miguel's cock on his tongue so badly it was a physical ache.

He looked over his shoulder and met onyx eyes. “It’s still early.”

“It makes sense for us to go as soon as the sun is up,” Miguel said and kissed Nero’s shoulder.

Kissed his shoulder and then moved away, as if it had never happened.

What. The. Fuck?

Nero spun to his back and grabbed the front of Miguel’s T-shirt to hold him in place. Miguel stilled and squinted at him with an expression so confused annoyance trickled out of Nero, leaving him to chuckle.

“You want to get off me so soon?”

Miguel’s face was steel, but his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, stretching the warm skin peppered with dark stubble. “I…” He ran his fingers over Nero’s side. “It’s not safe to stay here too long.”

Nero stifled the shiver caused by those warm, wandering digits. “What’s life without a bit of risk?”

“I’m not like that, Nero. I only risk when I have to.”

Nero thought Miguel was about to grab his hand, but he only peeled it off his T-shirt. When the warm touch lingered, though, Nero leaned in, eager to feel those soft lips on his again while the day sleepily came back to life.

A hard knock on the door made him drop to the mattress while Miguel stood to attention, like a good boy scout unwilling to be caught breaking the rules. Of course.

With a soft sigh, Nero rolled to his stomach. “Come in.”

Sofia’s single arm shoved the door as she entered, taking them in with a grim, distrustful expression. She wore a colorful sweater, which had one of the sleeves shortened and sewn shut, but there was nothing cheerful about her expression. “There’s a boat leaving in an hour. My man will take you there,” she said and stepped to the side to let them through.
