“Good. It’s going to be a hot one, no?” I ask, towel drying off.

“Yes, it’s going to be very hot. No need for the heater for the next week.”

“That’s good to know.” We shake hands and he goes to work while I go inside.

When I stepped inside, Summer’s eyes widened. “Good morning, Drake.”

“Good morning, stepsister,” I answered. She was dressed in a pair of baby blue shorts and a white tank top with a matching bra. The blood loss to my brain was immediate, so I cleared my throat and hid my frame around the kitchen island.

As much as I ached to fuck her, there needed to be some boundaries. She was related by blood which meant she wasn’t for me, so I had to be reminded of it and while I was at it, it was best to keep my distance.

“Any plans for today?”

“Not really. I don’t have a job and I’m not in school.”

“The job isn’t easy to find with no skill set, and the job is hard to get when everyone thinks you’re wealthy even though it’s only your stepfather’s wealth.”

“So what do you plan to do with your day?” I need to stay away. The mental chant isn’t doing so well.

“I’m going to read a book or two, but I’d really like to swim.”

“It’s not a good idea. They’re cleaning the pool right now,” I growl, annoyed by the idea of her heading back out there right now where Ernesto and his twenty-year-old son are working. A twinge of possessiveness floods my veins even though it shouldn’t.

“Is that because I was in it, and you don’t want your precious pool contaminated?” she says, vitriol dripping from those plump pink lips, mistaking my tone for anger which I actually prefer. The truth is a little too complicated.

“No, little brat. It’s the weekly cleaning. As you can see, I just got out of the pool. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get changed.”

“Okay.” The soft resignation in her voice almost has me break down and apologize, but then I might do something stupid like spend more time in her presence which is a bad thing. In fact, it’s best I return to work faster than I anticipated. I’m heading to the office on Monday instead of the weeklong vacation I planned.

Two days. I made it two whole days without speaking to or seeing my guest. She ducked away from me at every turn almost as much as I did the same with her, but the problem was I didn’t want to stay away, and I hated that she avoided me. Was that her mother’s plan? Get me interested by playing the cat-and-mouse game?

Was it more frustrating that it was working? I checked the cameras in my home and realized the little troublemaker was in the pool again. The damn brat was in a sexy swimsuit that hugged her body perfectly, stiffening my dick. It was getting harder and harder to fight the raging desire to screw her tight pussy.

My phone rings, and it’s my investigator. “What do you have for me?”

“She’s thirty-seven, and she’s been married seven times. Every guy is richer than the next. Your father is just one of many husbands.”

“Are they alive?” I don’t trust this bitch with my father on their supposed honeymoon. She might try to off him.

“Some of them are.”

“I need someone to find my father and keep him safe. Get a team to him ASAP.”

“Of course. I’m already one step ahead of you. Honestly, I can’t believe your dad would marry a woman that’s been married that many times.”

“She’s pregnant,” I informed him. It seems my father likes to repeat his mistakes and then use the same solution to correct them.

“Are you sure?”

“He said she was.” I hadn’t even met the woman, so it wasn’t like I could see for myself.

“Well, is it his?” I scoffed at that one because his guess was as good as mine.

“I don’t know. Is there a way to get some medical records?”

“Legally, no, and you couldn’t use them in a court, of course.”

“Of course, but that cunt is playing a dangerous game, and I need to protect my dad. What do you have on the daughter?”

“Summer Smith, she’s the product of her first marriage. No driver’s license. She only had one job that lasted a week when she was sixteen, and she quit the same day. There’s a police report on her as a runaway at the age of sixteen, but that’s all I could find. Her school records are unremarkable. She graduated high school without any special recognition.”

“Interesting. Keep my dad safe. I’m going to try and call him.”

I call, and he answers, “I’m surprised you’re calling, son. Are you trying to kick her out? I can send her to the condo.”

“No, I’m checking up on you.”
