“We love what you’ve been doing. The songs are amazing. We’re hoping for a big bang at the end of the tour. We think it will really get the fans revved up for the release of the new album,” Irving says excitedly.

“I’ll do what I can,” I say dryly.

I’m still pissed as fuck with Jag. If I hadn’t known him most of my life, I would fire him. He’s taking our friendship too far. I’ll only bend so much.

“Do you think you’ll be able to get this all laid down in time for the new release date?” Irving asks.

“What new date?”

“I haven’t gotten around to telling him about that,” Jag says nervously.

“This is hot. We want to stay on top of the buzz. You have three weeks to record when you get back. We’ll be releasing the album three weeks after that. We already started to prepare the rollout,” Irving replies.

I pull a hand down my face and scratch my forehead. It’s not impossible, but it’s going to be a fucking challenge. I’ll be overworking my boys, just coming off a tour.

“Do I have a choice?”

“That’s my guy. I knew you would get it done,” he says as if I just promised I would make it.

“Yeah, are we done here? I need a shower. I’m exhausted.”

“This is some good stuff. I’ll be in Vegas. I can’t wait to see what you come up with,” Irving says. “We’ll keep the very last song for the album release. Make that one a hit for us.”

“You got it,” I snort and get up to go into the shower.

That last song will be my best yet. It’s my last. I’m tired of this. My mind goes to Saga. I’m ready for something new in my life. It’s time for a major change.

I want to start a family.

CHAPTER 21

Payback

Saga

Dwayne knocks on the guys’ shared dressing room door before turning the knob and poking his head in. I stand waiting in the hall while going through the footage Joey took for me on my work phone.

I can’t help the smile on my face. I wasn’t expecting Bishop to tell the world he’s in love with me through his new song, but I loved that song. Joey had a much better angle than I ever got.

I text the video of Bishop singing the new song to my personal phone, wanting to listen to it again later. Dwayne backs out of the guys’ dressing room with a high-back barstool for me. Placing the barstool beside me, he nods for me to sit.

I roll my eyes but take a seat. I know Bishop would blow a gasket if he found me standing and waiting. Dwayne posts up in front of the door and crosses his big arms over his chest.

“They’re getting dressed. We can head in in a minute. You need anything?” he says to me once I’m settled.

“No, I’m fine,” I say, turning my attention back to my phone.

Joey did good. I continue to go through the footage to see what I can post next. I usually post something different to each member’s profile and Bishop’s newest song to the band’s profile. A few minutes go by then the dressing room doors open again.

“We’re decent. You guys can come in,” Thrush croons.

Dwayne gestures for me to enter, stepping aside for me to walk in before him. I slide off the stool and start for the entrance, not looking up from my phone to walk the short distance. I don’t even think twice, not until the guys burst into laughter.

I stumble back with a stunned and confused look on my face. I blink a few times, trying to comprehend what just happened. Thrush stands doubled over in laughter.

“I told you payback would be a bitch,” he laughs out hysterically.

My mouth falls open as I look into the room. My lashes are stuck to the tape I walked right into. These assholes placed tape across the threshold for me to walk into, keeping me from entering the room.

I look at Dwayne and glare. He purses his lips and holds his hands up. His face is red from trying not to laugh.

“That shit was priceless,” Fendi cracks up.

I place my hands on my hips and cock my left one to the side. I roll my jaw and scoff. Suddenly, I don’t know if I want to kick Thrush’s ass or laugh.

“Well played. You better sleep with one eye open.” I seethe.

Bop comes to peel the tape down. I move forward to snatch my lashes off. I had wanted to look extra special tonight, so I wore them.

“You guys are trying to get murdered. Bishop is going to be the one to get revenge. I don’t envy you,” Dwayne chuckles as we step inside.

“I just want him to know I had nothing to do with it,” Bop says.
