“Are you fucking kidding me?” she growls.

I stop at a stop sign and turn to fully look at her. She’s now staring silently out of the window. In the reflection of the glass, I can see the sadness in her expression.

I glance in the rearview to find Dwayne with his gaze locked on her. I don’t ask her what’s wrong because he’s in the car with us. I note to remember to ask later.

I sigh to myself. I knew getting married would change my life. However, I didn’t take into account all the changes that would come from marrying a famous rock star.

“Get used to it, Saga. Dwayne will be with you until I hire someone for you full time,” Bishop had said before I left the house.

I guess this is my life now.

CHAPTER 35

Hot Bullshit

Saga

“Saga Walden-Moran, you’ve been served,” the guy standing on my doorstep says.

I look down at the envelope in my hand with my brows drawn. I’m so confused. Who in the world could be serving me and for what? I haven’t done anything to be sued for.

My heart starts to race. Does Bishop want a divorce? I thought things were going great between us. It’s been two weeks, but we haven’t had more drama than me fussing about his wet towels all over the bathroom.

I’m still staring blankly at the envelope in my hand when the front door opens and Bishop walks in. He stops and looks at me curiously. His eyes taking on concern.

“What’s going on?” he asks, closing the door behind him and pulling me into his embrace.

Okay. Not divorce papers.

“I don’t know. I was just served. I haven’t opened it yet,” I reply.

He takes the envelope from my hand and opens it. I watch his face as he reads over the documents. His face goes from confused to red with rage. Pulling his phone from his pocket, he scrolls through then places a call.

“Hey Garry,” he says into the phone.

He looks up at me and places the call on speaker. The voice of an older-sounding man comes through the line. I’m still confused as to what’s going on.

“The wife was just saying I should have you over for dinner,” Garry says.

“I’d love to do that sometime, but this call is for business. My wife is being sued by her piece-of-shit former boss. The same boss who fired her and had her blackballed after she refused to sleep with him.

“I was a potential client of his a few months back. It was around the time she was still an employee. I hadn’t met her at the time and still didn’t know her when I decided not to use their firm.

“He’s stating that she poached me as a client and stole his campaign. The bullshit campaign that was pitched to me doesn’t even come close to what Saga has done since I hired her,” he fumes into the phone.

“That’s some nasty business. Send the documents over to my office for me to take a look. It may look sketchy if we file a sexual harassment suit at this point, but I’m willing to start digging to see what we can do,” Garry says.

“On second thought…” Bishop says and takes a pause. “I need to call in a few favors. We’ll talk.”

He hangs up the phone, his eyes trained on me. I’m ready to scream. I can’t believe that asshole Tom is still at it.

“This is so un-fucking-believable,” I grit out. “I never slept with Carey. We dated. Never had sex. Tom is such an asshole! The fact that this man is trying to ruin my life because he couldn’t get in my pants… I’m so pissed I could light his ass on fire.”

He pulls me into his arms and holds me. “I’ll take care of it. I don’t want you to even think about this another second.”

“I feel like everything is coming apart at the seams,” I push out.

“Good thing I learned to sew in high school,” he says.

“What?” I look up at him. “Seriously?”

“Yup,” he kisses my nose. “All the girls were in home ec. While all the other guys were running from cooking and sewing, I was right there with the girls, becoming their best friend.”

I stare at him for a moment, then burst into laughter. I can’t even imagine a big-ass teenage Bishop in a home ec class, but I can so imagine him doing something like this to be where the girls were.

Smooth.

My husband has been smooth from day one. I tighten my arms around him. I know, in my heart, he’ll make this better. I hope he countersues Tom and Carmichael, Pike, and Jeffreys for all they’re worth.

I’m done with my past.

Bishop

“You all right, baby?” I say into Saga’s ear as she sits between my legs.

I have the fireplace going as we sit on the rug and take a moment to decompress. A bottle of wine is open, but I have a beer for myself. Music is playing softly throughout the house through the surround sound system.
