We’re close to wrapping up the album. Everyone has been pushing to get to the finish line. I’m exhausted.

However, tonight is about us. A chance for me to remind Saga of why she chose me. This will be a reminder of why she’s fighting for us to stay together. I want her to know I haven’t forgotten her or our love.

“You don’t have to shout through the house for me. I was already coming down. Why are you so impatient tonight?” Saga says.

I turn to respond but freeze and nearly swallow my tongue. She looks amazing. There’s a glow to her skin and a sparkle in her eyes.

The dress she has on makes me want to change my mind about going out and instead carry her sexy ass right back upstairs to have my way with her. The gold sequin fabric falls to her upper thighs, showing off her toned, shapely legs. The neckline of the dress dips low between the valley of her breasts.

Her feet are in a pair of gold-sequined heels that scream, fuck me. I promise here and now that I’m going to answer them before the night is over. I can’t wait to have them locked around my head.

“You look amazing,” I breathe, sure she can see the lust in my gaze.

She does a turn, revealing her bare back and lush ass. My cock twitches in my pants, demanding I take her now. My wife is so fucking gorgeous.

“I was hoping you would like it,” she says, looking back at me over her shoulder.

I walk over, pulling her back to my front, splaying a hand over her belly, allowing her to feel just how much I love it. The way she looks up at me says a million words on its own. Dipping my head, I take her sexy lips.

I groan as she allows me to shove my tongue into her mouth. I’m happily taken by surprise as she sucks on it. Not missing a beat, I deepen the kiss, unable to resist.

Then I reluctantly place my hands on her hips and give a tight squeeze as I break the kiss. If I don’t back away now, we’re not going anywhere. The thought does cross my mind to reschedule, but I promised my wife a date tonight, and I’m not breaking that promise.

I place a peck on her nose and then nip her lower lip. With knitted brows, I search her face. My chest tightens.

“From craving a grease burger to finding the love of my life, you were the last thing I expected, but everything I needed,” I murmur against her lips.

“I almost didn’t go inside. Now I’m glad I did.”

I suck in a sharp breath. “Come on. We need to go.”

Taking her hand, I lead her out of the house. My nerves shoot through the roof. This is our first real date since being back in California.

This can go great or go completely wrong. I’m always under more scrutiny when I’m back home. Being sighted is almost unavoidable, no matter what we try.

I send up a silent prayer. Please don’t let them ruin us, or this time. Keep the paparazzi away from my life, at least for a time.

Saga

I snuggle into Bishop’s side as we ride in the back of the SUV. I’m wrapped in a cocoon of his scent and heat. There’s no other place I’d rather be.

He looks so handsome and sexy in his black dress shirt and slacks, his hair brushed back neatly in a man bun. It’s a far cry from the jeans and T-shirt I’m used to seeing him in. That or a thermal and jeans.

“Where exactly are we going?” I ask to break the silence as I realize I don’t know where we’re going.

Bishop kisses the top of my head. Then he tightens his arm around my waist. I peek up at him and smile.

“It’s a surprise. Don’t worry. You’ll enjoy it.” He shoots me a wink.

Him and his surprises. I won’t lie and say it doesn’t make me all giddy inside to know he’s planned something special for me. I loved our date in Atlanta.

“Ah, but are you sure? I mean, do you really feel you know me that well to be sure I’ll like it?” I tease.

I feel bad as soon as I see the panic fill his eyes. Cupping his face, I press my lips to his. It takes a moment for him to return the kiss and take over.

It dawns on me how tired Bishop must be because he knows how well he knows me. I look closer at him. It’s written all over his face.

He’s so tired, and still, he’s trying to do this for me. I love him so much for it, but I’m concerned as I look into his tired eyes. This date could have waited.
